Lahham, Boroujerdi: Syrian People alone, can Decide their own Future in Ballot box

DAMASCUS,(ST)_ Speaker of the Syrian Parliament Muhammad Jihad al-Lahham stressed that the Syrian people alone, are the owner of the right to decide their own future and elect their representatives through free and fair elections, noting that those who call themselves external opposition are scared of resorting to the polls because they are not popular in any coming election event.

 During a meeting with Chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy committee in the Iranian Shura Council Dr. Ala eddin Boroujerdi and his accompanying delegation, Lahham indicated that Syria achieved victory against all external pressures and international terrorism, thanks to the sacrifices of the Syrian Army and the Syrian people commitment to their national unity and leadership.

He noted Iran ‘s positions in supporting the Syrian people in their war against the terrorist –war backed by regional and Western countries, stressing the need to develop strategic cooperation plans between the Syrian parliament and the Iranian Shura Council for the next phase and coordination and integration of stances in the service of the two countries just causes.

For his part, Boroujerdi said that Syria is targeted by the Western countries and world imperialism ” being in the first ditch in the battle against the Zionist entity,” and that the war, it undergoes for nearly 3 years ” failed due to the steadfastness of the Syrian people and their faith in their homeland and just cause,” stressing that despite plans by the United States against Syria and to premeditated intentions to derail Geneva Conference 2, “the crisis in Syria will end in favor of the Syrian people and steadfast government.”

He went on that the Iranian people will continue to support the Syrian people in the face of the unjust war, adding the visit of the Iranian Shoura delegation to Syria, comes in the framework of the Parliamentary Friendship Committee in the Iranian Shura Council, stressing the need for coordination of positions between the parliament and the Shura Council in the international arena, especially with regard to the fight against terrorism and supporting the axis of resistance.

The meeting was attended by the Chairperson of the Committee of Arab and Foreign Affairs in Parliament, Dr. Fadia Dib, the Iranian ambassador in Damascus Mohammad Reza Raouf Sheibani and a number of members of parliament.
