Russia: Providing humanitarian aid to Gaza Strip is impossible in the light of the continued Israeli bombing

Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzia considered that providing adequate humanitarian aid to the people of the Gaza Strip is impossible in the light of the continued Israeli bombing.

Nebenzia said during the session of the UN Security Council yesterday evening :” We are tired of repeating that in the circumstances of the continuation of the Israeli military operation with the support of the United States for more than half a year, providing adequate aid to the residents of the Gaza Strip is impossible, and this is clear”.

Nebenzia added: “Members of humanitarian organizations are defenseless people, and they cannot resist the Israeli army in any way, and it is inhumane to demand that they be killed under strikes in those circumstances, as the Council is unable to force “Israel” to stop combat operations”.

Nebenzia expressed Russia’s hope that the new UN mechanism for transferring humanitarian aid to Gaza would contribute to improving the situation.

It is noteworthy that the United Nations is working to develop a mechanism to transfer humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip under the supervision of the UN Coordinator for Reconstruction and Humanitarian Affairs, Sigrid Kaag, who assumed her duties on the 8th  of last January.

The United Nations World Food Program confirmed that more than 200 days after the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, half of the Strip’s population is suffering from hunger due to the Israeli siege and the prevention of aid from reaching the besieged Strip.
