More than 400 Irish artists urged their compatriot, singer “Bambi Thug,” nominated for the Eurovision Song Contest, to boycott this event due to the Israeli entity’s participation in it.
“We ask you to withdraw from Eurovision 2024, scheduled to be held next month in Malmö, Sweden, in response to the Palestinians’ call to boycott the competition due to Israel’s participation,” the artists wrote in a joint letter published by Agence France-Presse.
They added: “By participating in Eurovision, you will be on the unjust side of history.”
Israeli participation in the Eurovision contest sparked several protests this year due to the ongoing Zionist aggression against the Gaza Strip since last October.
Criticism focused on the two organizing bodies: the European Broadcasting and Television Union and Swedish Public Television (SVT).
Tens of thousands of people, including artists, demonstrated a few days ago in the Irish capital, Dublin, to express their solidarity with the Palestinian people and to demand freedom and justice for them.
The demonstrators raised Palestinian and Irish flags and chanted slogans including “Yes to sanctions on Israel” and “Freedom and justice for Palestine.”
