“Temporary Darkness” Film participates in Annaba Film Festival in Algeria

Although it is the first experience of its writer and director, Firas Mohamed, in the field of feature films, the film “Temporary Darkness” produced by the General Cinema Foundation participates in the official competition of Annaba Film Festival for Mediterranean Film. The festival begins its activities on the twenty-fourth of this month.

The film deals with the story of a young man and a girl during a new phase of their lives, where their fate intersects together in one of the random neighborhoods of the city of Damascus. Their meeting will force them to reconsider their reality and their path and search for a refuge to protect them from the harshness of reality.

The film stars are Aya Mahmoud, Alaa Zahreddine, Zuhair Abdel Karim, Amana Wali, Dalaa Nader, Muhammad Zarzour, Ali Al-Qasim, Rana Jammoul, Cassandra Diab, and Amir Barazi.

70 new films from 18 Mediterranean countries produced between 2022 and 2024 will participate in the festival. The festival returns after a four-year absence with a new vision, and will continue until the end of this month.  Special screenings for Palestinian cinema and others for women and Mediterranean cinema  will be presented in the festival. The Italian cinema is a guest of honor.

The festival, which was postponed from the end of the year 2023 to its current date in solidarity with the Palestinian people, includes a special program entitled Viva – Long Live Palestine. Seven short Palestinian cinematic works will be presented to the audience and participants in succession throughout the days of the festival before the films of the official competition are screened.
