Syria and Russia have stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral relations and coordination in confronting terrorism.
This came during a meeting in Moscow on Monday between the National Security Advisor at the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Syrian Arab Republic, Major General Ali Mamlouk and the Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev.
The meeting was attended by the Russian President’s Special Representative for the Middle East and African Countries, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov.
The Russian-Syrian relations are deep-rooted in history, Patrushev said, pointing out that next July the two countries will celebrate the 80th anniversary of establishing these relations. He stressed Russia’s readiness to continue providing support for Syria in all fields.
He noted that the agreements signed between the two sides are very important and they serve a guideline for joint work.
For his part, Mamlouk affirmed the importance of continuous coordination to strengthen bilateral relations.
Mamlouk clarified that the steadfastness of the Syrian people under the leadership of President Bashar Al-Assad, and the sacrifices of the Syrian Arab Army and the support of the Russian Federation have thwarted all the plots of the terrorist organizations tgat aimed at underminjng the state.
He confirmed Syria’s full support for Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine because what is happening today is a correction of history and an attempt to defend the principles of justice and humanity.
Bogdanov, for his part, stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation in all fields.
Mamlouk arrived in Moscow to participate in 12th International Meeting of High Representatives in Charge of Security issues, which takes place in Petersburg from the 23rd to the 25th of April, 2024.
