DAMASCUS,(ST)_ Deputy Premier and Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem met today Filippo Grandi, Commissioner -General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, UNRWA and the accompanying delegation.
Grande reviewed UNRWA team efforts in Syria to provide support and relief for Palestinian refugees affected by the crisis in Syria, especially inside al- Yarmouk refugee camp, commending in this context the fruitful cooperation and constructive efforts made by the Syrian government throughout his tenure with UNRWA.
For his part, Moallem praised UNRWA ‘s efforts in Syria, noting that the challenges and difficulties faced by UNRWA in Syria is the result of the practices committed by armed terrorist groups in areas inhabited by the Palestinian refugees, stressing the desire of the Syrian government to continue hosting these refugees until they have the right to return to their homeland, Palestine, stressing the need to neutralize the Palestinian refugees from what is happening in Syria.
In two separate meetings, Grandi also met with both Dr. Faisal al-Miqdad Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates and completed with them discussions on areas of cooperation between Syria and UNRWA.
