Chinese Foreign Minister: Immediate recognition of the State of Palestine is a necessary step to correct a long-standing historical injustice

Port Moresby, ST) – Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stressed that the immediate admission of Palestine to the United Nations is a necessary step to correct a long-standing historical injustice to which the Palestinian people have been subjected.

Xinhua quoted Wang as saying during a press conference held with his counterpart in PapuaNew Guinea, Justin Tkachenko: This recognition will contribute in easing political tensions in the Middle East, and allow the Palestinian people to get rid of the historical injustice they have been subjected to.

Regarding the Solomon Islands, Wang stressed that all parties must respect the choice of the people of the Solomon Islands and refrain from interfering in their internal affairs. He pointedout that their people have sufficient ability to decide the future of their country for themselves.

Wang stressed that any attempt to provoke confrontation between the camps in the South Pacific region does not serve the urgent needs of their countries.
