Beirut,(ST)_ Head of the Marada Trend in Lebanon MP Suleiman Franjieh stressed that Syria is facing a takfiri war targeting the entire region from Lebanon to Pakistan, a matter which requires uniting efforts to fight this Takfiri extremism.
Franjieh explained in an interview with al-Mayadeen TV yesterday that Syria is targeted due to its political positions in support of the resistance and the Arab rights and not over its internal status and ruling system.
“I contacted, President Bashar al-Assad two days ago and I bet on the steadfastness of Syria and his own steadfastness and all my best wishes and prayers for him to remain as president. It is my right to support him because my friendship with him is built on faith and a history of a common political relationship and all bets to bring Syria down were wrong, ” he emphasized.
Franjieh pointed out that what is happening in the field governs the situation in Syria, and that the one who sees himself strong should not be scared of presidential elections.
Regarding Lebanon, Franjieh stressed that national reconciliation must be a priority for the current Lebanese government with the necessity of having good intentions of both parties to reach an agreement to form a joint statement, expressing optimism over the ministerial statement and satisfaction over the composition of the current government.
