Damascus, (ST) -Activities of the Syrian-Iraqi-Iranian judicial committee kicked off in Damascus on Wednesday in the Ministry of Justice building in Damascus with the aim of coordinating efforts to combat terrorism and the terrorist organizations that practice their activities in these three countries.
The committee’s meeting also aims to reach an agreement through which the necessary measures will be taken to uncover terrorist crimes, prosecute the accused, conduct full investigations, conduct a judicial trial, issue rulings according to the crimes committed, and implement the punishment provided in those rulings, according to the President of the Court of Cassation at the Ministry of Justice and member of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Hassan Shash, the Head of the Syrian side in the committee.
In a statement to SANA reporter, Judge Shash said that judicial cooperation was discussed between the three countries through the continuous exchange of information, experiences, documentation of crimes and a study of taking all measures that ensure the elimination and confrontation of terrorism, whether by preventing its crimes before they occur or by prosecuting their perpetrators and bringing them to justice, defending the rights of victims of terrorism before national and international courts, and demanding compensation for the losses caused by terrorists as a result of their crimes in the three countries.
The committee also discussed, according to Judge Shash, means of enhancing legal cooperation and coordination by devoting a set of legal mechanisms to thwart the American scheme that aims at undermining the steadfastness of the people of the three countries and their legitimate rights.
