Pakistani official asserts Iran’s retaliation against Israeli entity is legitimate

ISLAMABAD, Apr.16, (ST)– Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has asserted that the Israeli terrorist attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus is a violation of its sovereignty, and therefore Tehran’s retaliation  against this violation was a defensive and proportionate response.

IRNA quoted Asif as saying in an interview with Pakistani Geo News program that the Israeli attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus is in fact an attack on territory of an independent state that resulted in the martyrdom of a number of people.

The Pakistani official indicated that after this aggression against Iranian diplomatic sites, the Israeli entity had to expect a response from Tehran, so the military operation it carried out against Israel was legitimate and proportionate.

He stressed that any new aggression by the Israeli entity will ultimately harm it, pointing out that the reason for the hostility of the western countries toward Iran is the support it provides to the oppressed Palestinian people.
