UN rapporteurs: The Israeli occupation’s destruction of infrastructure in the Gaza Strip is a crime against humanity
On April 15th, United Nations rapporteurs confirmed that the Israeli occupation’s deliberate and systematic destruction and massive damage to infrastructure facilities during its ongoing aggression against the Gaza Strip constitutes a crime against humanity.
The rapporteurs said in a statement: “Although 6 months have passed since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on Gaza, the infrastructure and civilian housing in Gaza have been subjected to major destruction, and this constitutes a crime against humanity.”
The rapporteurs added that this destruction has left the Palestinian people in Gaza deprived of their basic rights, such as food, shelter, health services and security.
They also indicated that between 60 to 70 % of all homes in Gaza Strip were either completely destroyed or partially damaged, and that the World Bank, the United Nations, and the European Union expect that the volume of losses in the Strip amounted to the equivalent of 18.5 billion dollars.
