Iravani: Stronger response if Zionist entity launches aggression again

New York, (ST) – Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeed Iravani affirmed that Iran’s response will be stronger and more decisive if the Zionist entity launches aggression again.

Iravani said in a letter to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, and the President of the UN Security Council, Vanessa Fraser: The military action comes in implementation of the inherent right of the Islamic Republic of Iran to defend itself against the repeated military attacks of the Israeli entity, which is clearly stated in Article 51 of the Charter of United Nations.

Iravani added: The failure of the Security Council to carry out its duties in maintaining international peace and security allowed the Zionist entity to violate the red lines and basic principles of international law, which led to escalation of tension in the region and threatened regional and international peace and security.

Iravani pointed out that the Islamic Republic of Iran, as a responsible member of the United Nations, is committed to the goals and principles of the United Nations Charter and international law, and confirms its firm position that it does not seek to escalate tensions or conflicts in the region.

Iravani said: “While Iran warns against any further military provocation by the Israeli entity, it affirms its unwavering commitment to defend and respond forcefully in accordance with international laws against any threat or aggression to its people, national security, national interests, sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
