The Minister of Endowments Mohammad Abdul Sattar Al-Sayyed, a number of state and party officials, a group of Islamic religious scholars, and a crowd of citizens, performed the prayer with President Al-Assad led by the Imam, Sheikh Ahmed Muhammad Adnan al-Afyouni, Director of the International Levant Islamic Centre and Member of the Jurisprudential Scientific Council

Sheikh Al-Afyouni said that: “Eid Al -Fitr is a day of joy and pleasure, but Ramadan came this year while we have brothers in Gaza suffering under the entity of the Zionist criminal barbarism that practices the most heinous forms of genocide in this modern era.”

“We are proud that Syria, with its president, people and army, chose to follow the path of resistance with complete readiness to pay the price of this national stance despite its impacts on the country’s economy, politics and stability”, he added.

He clarified that “Syria has been the target of enemies over tha past years due to its being in the heart of the axis of resistance, pointing out that the enemies have sowed the seeds of extremism in the country and launched a dirty propaganda against it.

“God Almighty gave this blessed country a wise vision of a wise leader who has been the sponsor of values, ethics and adherence to the principles, therefore, as the projects of extremism were defeated on the thresholds of Syria, we are confident that the projects of moral destruction, family fragmentation and intellectual subordination to the domination of modern liberalism will be defeated.”

Sheikh Al-Afyouni concluded by praying for preserving Syria, its people, army, and leader, and for the victory of the Palestinian people.
