Iran opens new consulate building in Damascus following the Israeli strike

Iran on Monday opened the new building of its consulate in Mezzeh, Damascus, in the presence of Syria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Al-Mikdad and the Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdollahian.

The inauguration took place a week after a cowardly Israeli strike that destroyed the former consulate and led to human casualties.

In a statement to reporters, Abdollahian hailed the efforts exerted by the two sides for opening the new consular building of the Iranian Embassy in Damascus.

“We will never allow the terrorist and criminal Zionist entity to obstruct the efforts being exerted by the Iranian military advisors who are present in Syria, Iran’s friendly and brotherly country and close ally, to help confront terrorism on its soil,” Abdollahian said.

He stressed that Irana and Syria won’t allow the terrorist operations of the Zionist entity to affect the excellent and deep relations between the two countries.

He thanked Syria, as a leadership and people, for its solidarity with Iran after the Israeli terrorist attack on the Iranian Consulate in Damascus.

Al-Mikdad and Abdollahian also visited Al-Muwasat Hospital in Damascus to check on one of the wounded persons due to the Israeli attack.

Nasrallah: Iran’s response to attack on consulate is a natural right

In the same context and during a ceremony in honor of the martyred leader, Major General Mohammad Reza Zahedi and his fellow martyrs, who were killed in the Israeli attack on the Iranian Consulate in Damascus, Secretary General of the Lebanese resistance movement, Hezbollah, Hasan Nasrallah, said that this attack is part of the main battle represented by the conflict with the Zionist enemy, stressing that Iran’s response to the attack on the consulate is a natural right.

“There are two new elements in the Israeli attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus. The first is that the attack was against Iranian territory and here, the issue is not only the martyrdom of the Iranian leaders, but there is the Iranian territory that was attacked. The second is the level of targeting, because Major General Zahedi was the chief Iranian advisor in Lebanon and Syria.” Nasrallah clarified.

Nasrallah pointed out that the presence of Iranian military advisors in the consulate in Damascus is normal and legal, and targeting them is the highest Israeli attack on Iranian advisors in Syria in years, indicating that when the enemy declares a public war and claims to target Iranian forces, it is in fact targeting the advisors who have provided great services at the resistance level in the region.

Nasrallah stressed that the failure of the global war on Syria, of which the Israeli occupation entity has been part, prompted this entity to carry out attacks against Syrian territories.
