Syria, Iran to Develop Joint Industrial Projects

DAMASCUS, (ST) – Industry Minister Kamal Eddine Tomah recently met here with the Iranian Ambassador in Damascus Mohammad Reza Raouf Sheibani and his accompanying delegation. The two sides discussed means of promoting and developing the relations of industrial cooperation between Syria and Iran, the development of joint industrial projects and the creation of mechanisms for the development of the Syrian-Iranian Auto Company SIAMCO.

The minister underlined the importance of taking advantage of the expertise and the advanced Iranian industrial technology and the possibility of moving the entire automobile manufacturing in Syria.

He pointed out the importance of activating the work of the Joint Syrian-Iranian Industrial Committee to follow up the implementation of industrial and research cooperation projects in the in new industrial projects, expressing his willingness to overcome the obstacles facing the company SIAMCO.

For his part, the Iranian ambassador expressed his country’s readiness to discuss all projects of cooperation with Syria in the industrial field and the development of existing projects and to engage in new projects in the reconstruction phase in Syria, in addition to activating the joint industrial committee to discuss the prospects for industrial cooperation between the two countries.

“The Iranian side is ready to develop the work in SIAMCO Company, to create a suitable ground to speed up the production of the company and meet the needs of the Syrian market,” the Ambassador Sheibani clarified.

The Deputy Director of Iran Khodro for Export and International Relations pointed to the company’s plan of diversity in the production of cars across the company of SIAMCO and to increase production and help Syria in the production of a national car inside or outside the country and take advantage of the markets of neighboring countries of Syria in this domain.
