Wounded Wael Ahmed: My injury increased my determination to work and produce

Aleppo, (ST) – In his small workshop in the Al-Midan neighborhood in Aleppo, Wael Ahmed, a wounded citizen continues his daily life, participating in work, and helping his sister in making various types of pastries, cakes, and chocolate. His injury did not stand in his way, but rather increased his steadfastness and determination to challenge his fate.

Ahmed said in a statement to SANA that he was hit by a mortar shell during clashes with terrorists in the Homs countryside, which led to the amputation of his  left forearm, causing a 75 percent disability, in addition to his inability to move. A grant was provided to him to travel to Russia to receive treatment and with his gradual recovery and improvement in his health condition, he returned to his normal life to start his project in making pastries, cakes and chocolate, with the support of the Syrian Trust for Development(The Wounded Homeland Project), which provided him with assistance and enabled him to realize himself, enter the labor market and participate in production.

Ahmed added: He works with his sister to make various types of chocolate, cakes, pastries, and cakes according to customer requests, holidays, and occasions. He pointed out that he promotes his products through social media pages and his participation in the Old City Market Festival.

Ahmed called on his colleagues and the war-wounded not to surrender to the injury, confront it, recover, and start new projects. He stressed defending the homeland with weapons, continuing work and production, and launching new projects.

The wounded man’s sister, Naglaa Ahmed said that she shares the work with her brother and helps him pour chocolate moulds, wrap the pieces, and prepare them for distribution to stores.
