Lebanon, Kuwait, Pakistan, Jordan, China, Egypt condemn Israeli attack on Iranian consulate building in Damascus

CAPITALS, Apr.2, (ST)- Many countries have condemned the Israeli aggression that targeted the Iranian consulate building in Damascus, stressing that targeting diplomatic headquarters is a flagrant violation of international laws and the Vienna Conventions related to diplomatic relations.
The Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned this aggression in a statement released today.
“Targeting diplomatic headquarters and missions violates international law, and the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic and consular relations, which guarantees the immunity and inviolability of diplomatic headquarters,” the statement said.
It stressed that this dangerous inevitably threatens regional and international peace and security.
Another condemnation was made by Kuwait, which said in a statement published by KUNA: “This bombing is a blatant aggression on the sovereignty of Syrian territories and a flagrant violation of all international laws and norms, especially those that grant protection to diplomatic missions and safety to their members.”
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs renewed its call to the international community and the Security Council to assume their responsibilities in taking measures and making the necessary efforts in a way that preserves the safety and stability of the countries of the region and reduces tension and escalation.
Moreover, the spokesman for Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Sufyan Al-Qudah, said: “Targeting the Iranian consulate in Damascus constitutes a serious violation of international law and an attack on the sanctity of diplomatic headquarters protected under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.”
For its part, the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs said: “Pakistan strongly condemns the attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus….This attack constitutes an unacceptable violation of Syrian sovereignty and undermines its stability and security.
Its statement affirmed that this attack is a violation of international law and the United Nations Charter.

“Attacks on diplomats or diplomatic targets are illegal under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961,” the ministry added, calling on the UN Security Council to prevent the Israeli entity from adventurous behavior in the region and its illegal actions against its neighbors and targeting foreign diplomatic targets.”
China also condemned the Israeli aggression against the Iranian consulate in Damascus, stressing the necessity of respecting Syria’s sovereignty and the sanctity of diplomatic institutions.
AFP quoted Chinese Foreign Ministry’s spokesman Wang Wenbin as saying: “China condemns this attack… It is highly unacceptable to violate the security of diplomatic institutions, and Syria’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity must be respected.”
Furthermore, Egypt condemned the Israeli aggression against the Iranian consulate in Damascus, expressing its full solidarity with Syria.
Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said via the X website: “We categorically reject the attack on diplomatic facilities under any justification, and we stand by Syria in respecting its sovereignty, the integrity of its lands and its brotherly people.”
