With the participation of 12 associations….. a charitable Iftar for about 400 child in the Lahn Al Hayat Complex in Damascus Countryside

On the occasion of the month of Ramadan, a group of civil society organizations held yesterday evening a charitable Iftar entitled ” Gabr Al Khawater”  for about 400 orphan boys and girls at the Lahn Al Hayat Complex in Qudsayya suburb in Damascus Countryside.

The activity, which was held in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, in addition to the Iftar, included a group of competitions and recreational activities for orphan children residing in the Complex and a number of female breadwinners registered in the associations.

Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Louay Al-Munajjid, said in a statement to SANA that the ministry is focusing its work on strengthening the participatory approach of non-governmental organizations. He stressed the readiness to provide various types of support and facilities to the organizations in their work to reach the largest possible number of beneficiaries.

Minister Al-Munajjid explained that despite the current circumstances and the economic blockade imposed on Syria, the “Tashark Bel Khair” Campaign was able to provide distinguished quality services to the targeted families during the month of Ramadan.

Minister Al-Munajjid pointed out that after the end of the holy month, the campaign will be evaluated and the outputs will be shared with the various non-governmental organizations, the number of which has reached 600 . Based on these outputs, a guideline for charitable work in the month of Ramadan will be developed during the coming years.

In turn, member of the Executive Office in Damascus Governorate, Qais Ramadan, pointed out that the governorate granted non-governmental organizations various types of facilities to make the “Tashark Bel Khair” Campaign successful, whether through securing fuel for them or matters related to facilitating obtaining approvals to work this month.

For her part, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Gharas Development Association, Sahar Jibril, indicated that the association’s charitable work is focused on supporting needy groups and alleviating the economic burdens on them. She pointed out that the number of families sponsored by the association reaches a thousand families, and various types of social and economic support are provided to them.

Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Hayat Development Foundation, Dana Abdeen, stressed the importance of activating volunteer work in society, which contributes to greatly reducing the burden on families in need. He pointed out the need to strengthen these initiatives significantly during this period because of the support they provide to needy families and orphan children and contribute to bringing joy and pleasure to their hearts.
