The Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has asked the Lebanese permanent mission in New York to file an urgent complaint to the Security Council over the Israeli occupation’s repeated attacks on the Lebanese sovereignty by disrupting the navigation systems.
In a statement, the foreign ministry said the Israeli occupation attacks have affected the safety of civil aviation in the airspace of Beirut International Airport since the beginning of the aggression against Gaza Strip.
“Lebanon also holds Israel internationally responsible for the consequences of any accident or disaster caused by Israel’s deliberate policy of jamming air and ground navigation systems, and deliberately disrupting signal receiving and transmitting devices,” the statement read.
The ministry went on to say that this complaint is part of the campaign to document the Israeli violations, condemning the Israeli occupation’s reckless acts which indicates Israel’s disregard for the lives of civilian travelers.
The ministry reiterated that the Israeli attacks blatantly violate the International Humanitarian Law as well as the laws and regulations set by the International Aviation organization, the International Air Transport Union and the Convention on International Civil Aviation signed in Chicago in 1944.
