Al-Dahhak: West’s claims about its keenness on Syria and its people require it to abandon its misleading policies

New York (ST) – Syria’s Permanent Representative to the UN Qusay Al-Dahhak affirmed that the claims of some Western countries about keenness on Syria and its people require them to abandon their policies of misinformation and distortion of facts, to follow the approach of diplomacy and dialogue, and to support the Syrian government’s efforts to improve the living and humanitarian situation in the country and re-establish the rule of law over entire Syrian territory.

Al-Dahhak said during the Security Council session today on political and humanitarian affairs in Syria: In this month of every year, the Western countries, which are permanent members of the Council, resort to issuing and reporting misleading statements that promote their distorted narrative of what Syria has witnessed over the past years of the terrorist war.

He indicated that these statements come to cover up the acts of aggression, occupation, and stifling economic blockade committed by those countries with the aim of destabilizing Syria and weakening its regional role in facing the Israeli occupation.

Al-Dahhak stressed that the position of those countries regarding the crimes of genocide that the Israeli occupation continues to commit against the Palestinian people in Gaza for 6 months are further evidence of the falsity of their claims and their blind bias towards the Israeli occupation.

Al-Dahhak reiterated Syria’s emphasis on the content of its letters addressed to the Secretary-General of the UN and the President of the Security Council, demanding immediate action to stop the hysterical Israeli attacks.

Al-Dahhak affirmed Syria’s commitment to continuing its constructive cooperation with the UN and other partners in humanitarian and development work, noting that the UN agencies in Damascus must be granted full powers to carry out their mandate in all parts of Syria in full coordination and cooperation with the Syrian government.

Al-Dahhak stressed that mines and explosive devices planted by terrorist organizations continue to claim the lives of hundreds of Syrians every year and cause to others major injuries and permanent disabilities, expressing Syria’ thanks to Russia, Armenia and a number of international and non-governmental organizations for the support they provide in clearing some sites contaminated with mines.
