Euro-Mediterranean Monitor: Israeli occupation forces carried out field executions of civilians inside Al-Shifa complex in Gaza

Geneva-(ST)- The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor confirmed that the Israeli occupation forces carried out field executions of civilians inside the Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza and called for immediate intervention to stop the Israeli genocide in the Gaza Strip.

In a statement issued on Wednesday and published on its website, the monitor called on the international community to intervene immediately to stop the ongoing massacre committed by the Israeli occupation in the Al-Shifa Medical Complex and its surroundings in Gaza, which led to the martyrdom of at least 100 Palestinians, many of them were subjected to field executions and deliberate killing after their detention.

The statement said: “The monitor documented testimonies from released detainees and eyewitnesses stating that the Israeli forces carried out field executions against displaced Palestinian civilians inside the Al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza City as part of their ongoing military operations in the complex for the third day in a row.”

One of the witnesses told the monitor: The Israeli soldiers were taking detainees to the surrounding of the hospital before the sounds of gunshots were heard and the soldiers returned without the detainees, while another  witness said: The soldiers handcuffed his hands in the hospital courtyard after he had been naked for more than nine hours, and that he saw the soldiers taking  groups of detainees for execution.

The Monitor indicated that the Israeli army acknowledged the killing of 90 people during the ongoing military operation in the Shifa Medical Complex, calling for the formation of an international investigation committee into war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by Israeli forces in the context of the crime of genocide, including intentional killings and extrajudicial executions against civilians.

It also indicated that the Israeli forces are still detaining about 320 displaced people, medical teams, and journalists, forcing them to be completely naked and subjecting them to torture during the field investigation before later dressing them in thin white clothes, and transporting more than half of them under threat and in ways that degrade dignity in trucks and military vehicles towards Israeli detention centers.

During the past 24 hours, the Israeli occupation committed 10 massacres in the Gaza Strip, killing 104 Palestinians and wounding 162, bringing the number of victims of the ongoing aggression for the 166th day to 31,923 martyrs and 74,096 wounded, while a number of victims are still under rubble and on the roads where ambulance and the civil defense crews cannot reach them.
