Mother teachers in Deir Ezzor have endured additional burdens during the years of terrorist war

Deir Ezzor, (ST) – Mothers, who are teachers in Deir Ezzor, have endured additional burdens during the years of the terrorist war and the siege that the city was subjected to. These burdens were embodied in moving to places far from their homes with the aim of spreading knowledge and reduce illiteracy, which terrorism sought to spread, amid terrorists’ missile attacks that targeted of schools and educational personnel.

One of these mothers is Faten Haj Obaid who worked in the schools in Deir Ezzor for 28 years, and moved in order to achieve the noble mission of education in various areas in the countryside of her governorate.  She still remembers how she first spoke to the students by saying: When a person is armed with will, he will achieve his goal, and she used to repeat this saying to her students every year, and today, she sees many of her students in good positions on the academic and professional levels, which makes her feel proud .

The teacher, Faten, who is a mother of four daughters, also succeeded in her mission as a mother who urged her children to pursue education.

She said in her interview with a SANA reporter that the most difficult stage in her work, which posed a great challenge for her to complete her professional and national duty, was during the years of the siege which was imposed by the terrorist organization “ISIS” on the city of Deir Ezzor for more than three years.

She indicated that the feeling of the mother and the teacher doubled her responsibility towards any danger that might be face her.

Haj Obaid recalls how she and her fellow teachers, during the years of the siege on Deir Ezzor, helped the students complete their education despite the harsh conditions. She added that when the stationery was not available enough for everyone, they would sometimes come to rotate it among the students, condense the lesson hours, and follow up with the students when they left school.

Although Haj Obaid’s youngest daughter was injured by one of the treacherous shells during the siege, she continued with her work and she did not stop being with the students for a single day, because she considers all the students as her children and feels that she has a duty towards them.

Haj Obaid concludes her speech by saying: The most beautiful gift for the teacher, who celebrate their day tomorrow in conjunction with Mother’s Day this year, is to see the success of those he taught  as to contribute to rebuilding the nation. She stressed that the teacher’s message in Syria during the years of the unjust war and until today continues, as educating students, protecting them from ideas of ignorance and backwardness, and promoting belonging and love for the homeland are professional, humanitarian, and patriotic duties.
