Canada halts exporting arms to the Israeli entity

A Canadian government source has said that Canada has stopped exporting weapons to the Israeli entity against the backdrop of the continued aggression against the Gaza Strip.

“This decision came after the Canadian House of Common issued a non-binding resolution last Monday calling for a halt to arms exports to the Israeli entity, and urging the international community to work to establish an independent Palestinian state” The source told Agence France-Presse.

The decision  received support by  204 votes to 117, calling on Ottawa to “suspend all exports of military goods and technology with Israel, and increase efforts to prevent them.”

This month, a group of Canadian lawyers and activists filed a complaint against the Canadian government demanding the suspension of arms exports to the Israeli entity, considering that Ottawa is thus violating domestic and international law.

The occupation entity is one of the most prominent importers of Canadian weapons, as it received military equipment worth 21 million Canadian dollars in 2022, and this was preceded by shipments worth 26 million dollars in 2021.
