The People’s Assembly delegation that participated in monitoring the presidential elections in Russia discussed with the Deputy Speaker of the Russian Federation Council, Konstantin Kosachev, ways to strengthen parliamentary relations between the two friendly countries.
Head of the Syrian-Russian Parliamentary Friendship Committee, a member of the People’s Assembly, Bassem Sudan, confirmed that the Russian presidential elections were held in an organized and transparent manner, and witnessed a strong turnout of Russian voters in all regions of Russia, especially in the Donbass region.
He pointed out that the Supreme Elections Committee in Russia played its role and secured all Means to facilitate the voting process.
Sudan indicated that the People’s Assembly delegation accompanied the elections in Moscow and its suburbs, as well as in the Donbass region, where voters participated for the first time in electing the Russian president and exercised their right to express their opinion and their affiliation to Russia, which derives its democracy from the ancient history of its people.
Sudan stressed that the scale of the Western and American attack against the Russian elections is evidence that Russia is on the right track, and will inevitably prevail in its confrontation with Western schemes.
He noted that the Syrian and Russian sides expressed the same positions regarding what is happening in Gaza and the necessity of working to stop the ongoing Israeli aggression on Palestinian territory. .
For his part, Kosachev underlined that Russian-Syrian relations have reached a very high level, pointing out that during the visit of President Bashar al-Assad to Russia last year, highly important agreements were reached for the development of bilateral relations, and the Russian Parliament is monitoring Implementation of these agreements.
The Russian parliamentarian pointed out that this meeting between the two sides represents a good opportunity to exchange views on what is happening in the Middle East in general and the crusial escalation of the situation in the Gaza Strip, especially in light of Israeli barbarism.
