Ambassador Ali Ahmad: The so-called investigation committee concerned with Syria has become a tool for preparing and promoting  terrorist groups

Geneva (ST) – Syria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations office, ambassador Ali Ahmad, affirmed that the so-called investigation committee concerned with Syria continues its role as a tool of the states that sponsor terrorism and fabricate lies.

Ali Ahmad stated during the 55th session of the Human Rights Council today that: “ The so-called investigation committee concerned with Syria continues to perform its political and its reports confirm the goal behind its establishment. For more than a decade, it has been used by its sponsoring countries to promote their unilateral and misleading narrative about the situation in Syria, which makes it ineligible to play any positive role in protecting and promoting human rights.”

“Is this the expected role of the human rights mechanisms? Do not the crimes committed against Syria by the same countries sponsoring this mandate deserve even a word of condemnation?”, he asked, adding that the acts of direct aggression by the Israeli occupation entity against residential neighborhoods and civilian facilities, the illegal Turkish-American military presence, support for terrorism, plunder of natural resources, threat to territorial integrity, and the stifling siege should be discussed.

Ali Ahmed renewed Syria’s determination to continue its efforts to liberate all its lands from terrorism and restore security, in addition to its commitment to continuing constructive cooperation with the United Nations and other partners to improve the humanitarian situation of all Syrians.

Ali Ahmad stressed that Syria is determined to press ahead with its struggle to liberate all its territories from terrorism, attain security and stability and cooperate with the United Nations to improve the humanitarian situation in the country.
