A workshop to promote small and micro-sized enterprises held in Damascus

With the participation of representatives of federations of chambers of industry, commerce, agriculture and non-governmental organizations, the workshop, which was held by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor discussed ways to strengthen micro and small-sized enterprises.

The workshop aims to develop features that lead the trend in supporting small projects so that they can support the national economy, as the number of active associations in this field reached about 135 in various governorates.

The workshop discussed how to benefit from the “There is Good in You” campaign, which was launched at the beginning of the month of Ramadan, to reach the largest possible number of deserving families through projects that help them overcome challenges, thus contributing to their livelihood empowerment, achieving economic independence, and ensuring the sustainability of their projects.

Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Loua’y Al-Munjid, pointed out in his speech that the goal of these initiatives is to give a developmental feature to charitable work during the month of Ramadan, enabling the establishment of a new concept related to development issues and small and micro projects.

Head of the Damascus Chamber of Commerce, Muhammad Abu Al-Huda Al-Laham, noted  the necessity of providing an appropriate place for small business owners to practice their businesses, which contributes to support  the economic policy  and enhancing growth factors and sustainable development.

Head of the Ahl Al -Sjam “Levant People” Initiative Foundation, Maysaa Raslan, stressed that the initiative is directed to development associations, and depends on achieving self-sufficiency for families through a group of projects to enhance development work during the next stage.
