The ruling party in Venezuela chooses Maduro as its candidate in the upcoming presidential elections

Caracas (ST) – The United Socialist Party of Venezuela has chosen the Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro as its candidate in the elections scheduled for next July.

Agence France-Presse quoted Diosdado Cabello, a senior official in the ruling party, as saying: “The vote within the United Socialist Party yesterday concluded in choosing Maduro as its presidential candidate.”

The National Electoral Council in Venezuela announced last week that the presidential elections will be held on July 28.
