Spain condemns Israeli occupation’s approval of new plan to build 3,500 illegal settlement units in the West Bank

Spain has “strongly” condemned the Israeli occupation’s approval of a new settlement expansion plan in the West back, which provides for constructing nearly 3,500 new settlement units, demanding that the Executive of Benjamin Netanyahu reverse this measure.

“The settlements are contrary to international law, undermine efforts to realize a solution and are an obstacle to peace,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

In similar statement, the French Foreign Ministry said: “We call on the Israeli government to immediately reverse this decision, which is unacceptable, illegal, and irresponsible given the extremely high tensions that already exist on the West Bank and the approach of sensitive religious holidays.”

“The Israeli settlement expansion in the Palestinian territories, which has led to the evictions and the demolition of Palestinian structures, is a flagrant violation of international law and must stop. Outposts, which are also illegal under international law, must be dismantled without delay,” the statement affirmed.
