On the anniversary of the martyrdom of Ghalia Farhat… our people in the Golan renew their pledge of loyalty to their homeland, Syria.

People in the occupied Syrian Golan today commemorated the 37th anniversary of the martyrdom of the freedom fighter Ghalia Farhat, a woman from Golan, who was shot by the Israeli occupation forces on the land of the occupied village of Baqatha, while she was particiating in a demonstration against the occupation in 1987.

On this occasion, the people in the occupied Golan affirmed their continued struggle against the occupation, stressing that the blood of the martyr Ghalia and the rest of the martyrs will keep the flame of resistance burning until the occupied lands are liberated.

In a statement to a SANA reporter, Sheikh Jad Al-Karim Nasser said that the people in Golan, on this occasion, stress that they will remain loyal to their homeland, the Syrian army, people and leader, President Bashar Al-Assad.

For her part, Rahma Farhat, daughter of the martyr Ghalia, stressed that the women in occupied Golan have always been an example to follow in struggle, patriotism and sacrifice and the commemoration of the anniversary of the martyrdom of Ghalia on International Women’s Day confirms  that women in the Golan can be martyrs,  prisoners, fighters in the battlefields and the teachers who educate children how to love their homeland and its pure soil. Rahma affirmed that commemorating the martyr Ghalia today near her tomb is a confirmation of the values of martyrdom and martyrs.

For her part, Salma Salah al-Din Farhat, granddaughter of the martyr Ghalia, pointed out that the Syrian woman was and will remain a symbol of pride and heroism, indicating that the memory of the martyr embodies the meanings of sacrifice and giving to the land so that these sacrifices converge with the sacrifices and heroism of the Syrian Arab people in the face of the terrorist war imposed on them.

She greeted all the women of Syria, first of all the first lady Asma Al-Assad.

The Governor of Quneitra, Mu ‘taz Abu al-Nasser Jamran, asserted that Syrian women have historically been examples of sacrifice and patriotism and they contributed to resisting occupation and terrorism, and one of these women is the martyr Ghalia, who was martyred on the eighth of March in 1987.

Jamran stressed that the martyrdom of Mother Ghalia was at a time when the world is celebrating International Women’s Day to make her blood a new stain on the forehead of the usurping Israeli occupation entity and the whole world, pointing out that the martyr represents the Golanese mother in her best form, who brings up her children to love the land and sacrifice for it.

It is noteworthy that Ghalia was martyred while participating in a national demonstration against the Israeli occupation on March 8th  1987, and her funeral took place on the 12th of the same month, with the participation of thousands of people from the occupied Syrian Golan.
