“My Mother…My Angel” a collective exhibition celebrating  the mother

Celebrating Mother’s day, a collective exhibition is being held by the Shumo’ Al-Salam (Peace Candles) Association under the entitle “My Mother…My Angel” at the Cultural Center in Abu Rummaneh in Damascus.

Eighteen artists display some 40 artiworks  in the exhibition that embody the mother, woman, nature, portrait, Arabic calligraphy and other. The themes belong to realism, expressionism, abstraction schools. The artists used multiple styles and techniques that reflect their hidden feelings.

“Today, we are holding our exhibition, titled “My Mother…My Angel” on the occasion of Mother’s Day, to honor the mother,  to celebrate her, and to thank her for her generosity. Our exhibition includes diverse paintings and sculptures”, artist Lina Rizq the organizer of the exhibition and the head of the Shumo’ Al-Salam Association told Syria times.

“I participated in this event with two paintings, the first depicts a woman communicating with the Creator with wings to carry her in the sky, and I chose the oily color to expresses giving, goodness, and nature. The brown color indicates the earth and the human roots” Lina said.

“The second painting depicts the human faces in my own style that gives a certain impression, which is looking at the unknown future with hope” she added.

Manuella Al-Hakim participated with three oil paintings depicting Arabic calligraphy, the Damascene neighborhoods and woman who has worries inside her.

Manuela always participates in this event. She likes to participate in this exhibition because she is a mother, as the mother for her means spring and giving.

Another participant, the artist Maysoon Sidawi, who consider the mother as the land, a symbol of generosity and giving good.

“The mother is like an angel that guards her children and she is a symbol of love. I always participate in collective exhibitions. I participated in this exhibition to express my love and appreciation to the mother”, Maysoon said.

In his turn, the artist Adnan Qasim participated with four paintings: the first  represents old woman, the second depicts the women’s sacrifice, as women are a symbol of purity, the third is a painting about nature, which symbolizes women, and the last is about a nun, who is a symbol of innocence and holiness.

“Woman is proficient in all fields. She is a wife, a mother, a doctor, and a nun. A woman expresses tenderness and feelings” Adnan said.

Artist Nisreen Hammad participated in the exhibition with two paintings that reflect the strength and greatness of women.

“The first painting depicts Hera, the goddess of love, marriage and fertility. I used orange and blue colors, which express life” Nisreen said.

The second painting expresses the suffering of the female in societies. The colors red, blue, purple and yellow express the strength, energy and conflict inside the  female entity.

“In my oil paintings I used a brush and my fingers, which I think can convey my feelings and express my inner ideas clearer to the viewer” Nisreen added.

Nisreen participated in many exhibitions inside Syria and outside, including in Germany and Spain
