Al-Mikdad at the AL Ministerial Council: Washington’s support for “Israel” confirms its complicity in Israeli crimes

Cairo, (ST) – Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Al-Mikdad affirmed that the United States’ unlimited support for the Israeli occupation, and its thwarting of all attempts by the UN Security Council to stop the Israeli continuous aggression against the Palestinian people in Gaza Strip, once again prove the US complicity in committing these crimes.

He expressed regret that the daily  killing of innocent people in hundreds have not moved the conscience of the countries that support the Israeli entity and that are complicit with “Israel” regarding the genocide crimes it commits.

Al-Mikdad indicated in a statement today during the Arab League ministerial Council meeting in Cairo, within the council’s 161st regular session, that it is sad and regrettable that the barbaric killing and criminality of the Israeli occupation war machine has been allowed to continue for five months, and the Israeli entity is still persisting in committing massacres and gross systematic violations of the rules of international law and international humanitarian law.

He stressed that “it is a shame to see the international community dealing with the brutal Israeli aggression against our people in Gaza Strip from the perspective of numbers that keep increasing to exceed limits that no one could have imagined, and yet they remain treated as numbers.”

Al-Mikdad said: “Neither the number of days of aggression, which amounted to 152 days, nor the number of victims, including martyrs and wounded, which reached tens of thousands, nor the number of bombs and explosives used in the aggression, which amounted to thousands of tons, could stir the conscience of the countries that support the Zionist entity and that are complicit in its crimes, mainly the United States.

Al-Mikdad added: “Although we are certain of Washington’s unlimited support for its legitimate child “Israel,” and that it will never allow the issuance of any international resolution that obstructs the brutal Israeli aggression, the US “veto” against the recent Arab draft resolution submitted by our brothers in Algeria before the Security Council and that called for ceasefire,  and the US thwarting of a draft statement regarding the Al-Rashid Street massacre, which killed and injured about 1,000 Palestinians, as they were waiting to receive humanitarian aid which constitutes a war crime, are the best evidence of the United States’ partnership in the Israeli massacres and violations of the international law, and its disrespect for the souls of innocent people who are daily killed in hundreds.

“Thus, we can no longer describe the American policies as double standards rather, they are an affirmation of the existence of one standard, which is to absolutely support the occupying entity and give it a license to target civilians and innocent people”, Al-Mikdad added.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates pointed out that the madness, aggression and crimes of the Zionist entity government were not limited to the war-torn Gaza Strip only, but rather the daily attacks extended to the West Bank, the Syrian territories and brotherly Lebanon.

He said: Neither civilians nor infrastructure were spared from these blatant attacks, which the criminal occupation government, through these attacks, is attempting to escape forward, through more escalation in the region, which has become a real threat to international peace and security.

Al-Mikdad added: “Despite the tragic scene we are living in, there are bright spots represented in the support of the free peoples and most countries of the world for the just Palestinian cause”.

“We particularly mention here the positions of South Africa, Brazil, Venezuela, Bolivia and other countries, and we cannot forget to extend our deep thanks to our friends in Russia and China for their support, their firm and supportive positions for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, and their permanent support for all just Arab causes, especially ending the Israeli occupation of all occupied Arab territories, including the occupied Syrian Golan, and implementing the resolutions of the United Nations and other relevant international organizations, including the Security Council Resolution No. 497 of 1981”, Al-Mikdad said.

Al-Mikdad stressed that the ongoing aggression against Gaza Strip, and the American and Western positions in general regarding this aggression and a number of other international issues, require, today more than ever before, require upholding the rules of international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter, especially with regard to respecting the sovereignty of states, non-interference in their internal affairs, establishing international relations on the principle of equality between countries, and deepening peaceful cooperation among them.

Al-Mikdad stated that seeking a multipolar world that ends American hegemony and restores life to the international system based on respect for the rules of international law and the principles of justice and equality, has become a vital matter for all countries and peoples of the world, in order to restore balance to international relations, in a way that enhances international peace and security.

“This tendency toward a multipolar world ends the political pressure exerted by Western countries on the rest of the world through the use of illegitimate and illegal tools, most notably unilateral coercive measures that prevent countries of the world from seeking to achieve their goals in attaining sustainable development and economic progress”, Al-Mikdad said.

Mikdad went on to say that Syria faces big challenges represented by the presence of terrorist groups on parts of its territory, the presence of American and Turkish occupation forces in the north and northeast of the country and the illegal unilateral coercive economic measures imposed by the United States and its Western allies on the Syrian people. These measures have become a weapon that these countries regularly use against all countries and peoples that reject Western pressures and dictates, and do not follow the approach and path set for them.

“These illegal measures have become the main obstacle that impedes Syria’s efforts to rebuild and implement economic recovery projects,” Mikdad said, expressing Syria’s aspiration for the Arab support to break the illegal Western economic blockade.
