Canadian lawyers and activists file a lawsuit against their government to suspend its arms exports to “Israel”
Montreal, (ST) – A coalition of Canadian lawyers, citizens and activists filed a lawsuit against the Canadian government headed by Justin Trudeau to force it to stop its arms exports to the Israeli occupation entity.
According to AP, the coalition that submitted the complaint to the Federal Court consists of a non-governmental organization called “Canadian Lawyers for International Human Rights” and a number of Canadian citizens, as well as “Al-Haq Palestinian Organization for Human Rights in Canada.”
The filed lawsuit targets Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Jolie as well as Justice Minister Arif Virani, and it includes accusations of violating international law and the country’s domestic law regarding arms exports.
The lawsuit also calls for an order to stop the immoral and illegal exports of weapons from Canada to Israel, similar to the legal measures taken in other countries around the world.
A Dutch court in The Hague issued an order “to stop the export of F-35 aircraft parts to “Israel” under the item “the risk of the violations of international humanitarian law in Gaza Strip with the use of these aircraft”.
International voices are growing louder denouncing the crimes of the Israeli enemy against the Palestinians in Gaza Strip and the continued Western support for it and demanding an end to its brutal violations and attacks.
