The genocide in Gaza continues

Five months have almost passed since the Israeli occupation started its brutal aggression against Gaza. No word can describe the humanitarian situation of the Palestinian people there in the light of the aggression and siege.

Bombardment, blockade, hunger, diseases are killing thousands of families both in the north and south of Gaza Strip. Some families no longer exist in the civil records while some other families have lost most of their members and they are now trying to accept the tragic loss of their beloved ones and the destruction of their houses.

Cemeteries are full, yet the genocide continues against all the Palestinian population including children and women. Just hours ago, the Israeli occupation committed a new massacre that killed at least 100 civilians and injured dozens others, while they were waiting for food aid in Al-Rashid Street southwest of Gaza City. According to the Palestinian heath Ministry the number of victims of the aggression for the 146th day hit 30,035 martyrs and 70,457 wounded.

Hunger and severe malnutrition are widespread in Gaza Strip, where about 2.2 million Palestinians are facing severe shortages resulting from Israel destroying food supplies and severely restricting the flow of food, medicines and other humanitarian supplies. Aid trucks and Palestinians waiting for humanitarian relief have come under Israeli fire.

In the light of the increasing death toll because of famine that resulted from the stifling Israeli siege on the northern Gaza Strip, concerns have been growing over the death of hundreds of thousands others.

According to the latest joint report by the World Food Program and UNICEF, severe malnutrition is on the rise among children and pregnant and breastfeeding women in Gaza Strip, which poses grave threat to their health. On February 28th, 6 Palestinian children martyred as a result of dehydration and malnutrition in the northern Gaza Strip.

The Israeli occupation, supported by the United States and its western allies, has gone far in its criminal practices against defenseless people, in complete disregard for the international law, yet the international community has so far failed, due to US veto, to adopt any action or resolution that condemns the aggression and imposes ceasefire in Gaza. So, how long will the international community keep silent regarding the Israeli brutality and until when do the Palestinians have to wait for help and justice?
