Terrorists Perpetrate Massacre in Maan Village in Hama

Damascus,(ST)-The Foreign and Expatriates Ministry sent two identical letters to the UN Secretary-General and the chairman of the UN Security Council, in which it said that armed terrorist groups perpetrated a new massacre in Maan village in Hama province.

The letters stated that the massacre claimed the lives of entire families, including dozens of women, children, aged and disabled people, and destroyed a number of houses in the village.

“The terrorist groups had attacked this village many times recently and displaced its people, in an implementation of regional and foreign agendas targeting the unity of Syria’s people and its social structure”, the Ministry added in the letters.

The Ministry asserted that this new massacre is an additional evidence that these terrorists and their allies insist on shedding the Syrian blood and that they disregard all efforts aiming to reach a credible political process capable of terminating the methodical destruction carried out by terrorist groups against Syria’s people, infrastructure and civilized achievements.

The letters said that the patrons of counterterrorism have exceeded the limit in ignoring this imminent danger to Syria, neighboring countries and the world, preferring to use the situation in Syria to achieve cheap political gains that serve their regional schemes, namely controlling the area and its people and resources.

“The countries which train, arm, fund, shelter and smuggle terrorists into Syria and employ their media outlets to propagate what they call “jihad” are responsible for the spread of terrorism and being a direct threat to peace and security in the region and the world”, the Ministry confirmed.

The Ministry concluded the letters by saying that Syria addressed the UN Secretary-General and the Security Council, demanding a strict and urgent condemnation of the massacre, of the terrorists who committed it, and of the parties supporting them.

The ministry stressed that the time has come for implementing the security council resolution on counterterrorism namely the resolution no 1373, adding that the killing committed by the armed terrorist groups in Syria prove once again that the main task of the UN and specifically the security council must be stopping violence and combating terrorism wherever it is.
