Al-Zou’bi: Coalition delegation should have Condemned Maan Massacre

GENEVA, (ST)_Information Minister Omran al-Zou’bi stressed that every incident or massacre that took place in Syria since the beginning of the events are documented and the Delegation of the coalition knows well who committed them, and as a national, moral and logical duty they should have condemned Maan massacre which targeted Syrian citizens including women, children, elderly and disabled.

Al-Zou’bi told reporters today that the meeting held between the Syrian delegation and the UN envoy to Syria Lakhdar Brahimi was consultative, during which the Syrian delegation presented a draft statement about Maan massacre to the northeast of Hama asking Brahimi as an international mediator, the international community and the UN to condemn this dirt and ugly crime against our people.

Replying a question on accusing the Syrian government of attacking the UN mission in Homs, al-Zou’bi explained that the UN has an audio and video recording of the armed groups inside the old city of Homs saying it would not permit the exit or entry of any body, noting that it is sure that the Syrian government did not shoot any one, and that what took place between armed groups is not related to the Syrian state.

He added that everyone has to understand that discussing terrorism file in Geneva is Syria ‘s first priority and terrorism in all its forms and manifestations must be stopped, pointing out that the coalition delegation is anxious and fearful, and perhaps has a horror of discussing terrorism file so they throw their accusations on the Syrian government.

Al- Zou’bi indicated that the UN has full knowledge of file of humanitarian aid and the size of the efforts by the Syrian government to secure food and relief needs for all areas without exception, including areas, where the armed terrorist groups used citizens as human shields, as in the old Homs, adding that the entry of aid to Homs has nothing to do in Geneva and this issue was part of a schedule between the United Nations and the Syrian government.

He indicated that the reason for monitoring the movements of all Syrian media was because it was real, serious, honest and creative, and has been working professionally, since the beginning of the Geneva conference.

He continued that what matters the Syrian official delegation is to reach a common ground and, “we are determined as a political delegation to progress forward and we will continue to debate and work to convince the others of the real priorities including the mediator and the other delegation.
