HOMS,(ST)_Some 460 civilians , mostly women, children and elderly were evacuated on Monday from the old city of Homs, according to the official news agency.
The civilians have been allowed to exit the areas since Friday under a deal reached between the governor of Homs Talal al-Barazi and the UN resident coordinator in Syria Yacoub El Hillo.
At least 694 civilians, including 80 children, have been evacuated so far.
A meeting was held today between the governor and the UN official to discuss possibility of evacuating more civilians from all quarters of the old city, particularly quarters of al-Hamedeyeh and Bestan al-Dewan.
Al-Barazi asked the UN team to deal with missing persons file inside the old city within the evacuation operation.
He clarified that the relief committees of Homs branch, in cooperation with the UN team, had delivered medical and food aid to all evacuated persons and provide temporary shelters to well over 134 civilians while others went to places they chose willingly.
Yesterday, civilians aged 16-45 were evacuated according to their demand and they stressed their readiness to settle their situation.
