Tourist Group Representing Different Nationalities Visits the old city of Damascus

A tourist group including 12 tourists of British, Slovak, Irish, French, American and Austrian nationalities visited the Ancient City of Damascus today, got acquainted with its archaeological and religious monuments and toured its markets and neighborhoods.

In a statement to SANA correspondent, the tour guide Mohammed Azizi, accompanying the group, said that the purpose of the visit is primarily cultural to see the archaeological and historical monuments in the city and in Syria, explaining that the group visited the Church of Ananias, the Umayyad Mosque, the Medhat Pasha market and a number of Old Damascus neighborhoods and will continue their trip program by visiting Aleppo.

Austrian tourist Dominic said: “I have been dreaming of visiting Syria for a long time “.  We visited the historic church of Ananias… I love the kind and friendly Syrian people and I always want to communicate with them.  Today I got in touch with a number of school students and they were wonderful and educated”.

The French tourist Mergen, a tour guide for a tour company outside Syria, said that his work with a tour company gave him the opportunity to visit many countries, but this is the first time he visits Syria and it will not be the last because Syria is a beautiful country rich in archaeological and cultural monuments, “pointing out that he found pleasure in tasting Syrian food.

Mergen pointed out that the company he works for has organized many tourist visits to Syria since 2018, pointing out that he documents everything he sees in this beautiful country with his camera to convey the correct picture of the life of the Syrian people and to refute the false news that reaches European countries about Syria.
