Children’s Parliament an opportunity for basic education students to participate in decision-making, express their views and needs  

In order to strengthen the personality of children, enhance their self-confidence, express their opinions and needs, and participate in decision-making, students of basic education schools in various governorates are currently participating in the election of their representatives in the (children’s Parliament) at the school level, according to a member of the leadership of the the Baath Vanguard Organization, head of the culture office Nou’ma Shadoud.

The parliament, whose experience was launched by the Al- Baath Vanguards Organization in various governorates several years ago , allows children to show their needs and problems and participate in finding solutions to their issues with the help of concerned authorities, in implementation of a number of articles of the United Nations Convention on the rights of the child, which refers to the right of the child to participate and express opinion, get his needs listened to and to activate his skills of dialogue and communication.

She pointed out that within the parliamentary session, members of Parliament in each governorate, participate in meetings with officials and carry out various activities,  stressing that the  Children’s Parliament  is an opportunity to build and strengthen children’s self-confidence, learn to express their needs, develop their sense of responsibility and Citizenship, and make the child feel like a partner in decision-making and assume responsibility for the protection and preservation of public property.
