Syria condemns Washington’s arbitrary use of  its veto power against a draft resolution demanding ceasefire in Gaza Strip

Damascus (ST) – Syria has condemned the arbitrary and shameful use of veto by the United States at the Security Council against the draft resolution submitted by Algeria to stop the aggression against the Palestinian people in Gaza Strip, pointing out that this veto provides cover for the Israeli entity to continue the genocide it is perpetrating in Gaza.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Wednesday that the Security Council yesterday witnessed the use of veto by the United States for the fourth time in a row since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on Gaza more than four months.

This US behavior provides evidence on Washington’s hypocrisy and false claims about caring for and protecting human rights around the world, and proves it continued support for the Israeli killing machine against the Palestinian people, the ministry added.
