China criticizes the US veto against a draft resolution on Gaza at the Security Council

China strongly on Wednesday criticized the US veto against a draft resolution at the Security Council which calls for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza Strip, stressing that it would make the situation more dangerous.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said during a press conference, according to what was reported by Agence France-Presse: “China voted in favor of the draft resolution”.

She added that one once again, the United States was the only party to impose the veto, making the situation in Gaza more dangerous. The concerned parties, including China, expressed their  great disappointment and dissatisfaction.

The spokeswoman stressed that the humanitarian situation in Gaza has become very dangerous, while regional security and stability have been severely affected by the continuation of the Israeli war, calling on the Security Council to move as quickly as possible to put an end to these attacks.

She indicated that China will continue to work with all parties in the international community to push the Security Council to take more responsible and useful measures, and to make continued efforts to stop the war in Gaza as soon as possible.

Yesterday, the United States used its veto against a draft resolution presented by Algeria, demanding an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza.
