Syrian-Danish talks on strengthening cooperation in social protection

Damascus (ST) – Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Louay Al-Munajjid discussed with the Country Director of the Danish Refugee Council in Syria Sachitra Chitrakar cooperation relations in many areas related to the file of social protection and economic growth.

Both sides signed a renewal of the memorandum of understanding signed between the two sides in 2008, which aims to work in the field of supporting small and micro enterprises and support through the cash assistance program in four governorates (rural Damascus, Daraa, Hama, and Homs).

During the meeting, Al-Munajjid stressed the Ministry’s desire to benefit from the organization’s expertise in the field of supporting community development centers and rural development.

He indicated the Ministry’s readiness to provide the necessary support and facilities for the success of the organization’s work plan in Syria that it prepared for the current year.

For her part, Chitrakar stressed the importance of partnership with the Ministry to work in many areas to achieve the necessary support for the targeted groups, through social protection programs, community services, and economic recovery and rehabilitation projects.
