Prime Minister discusses with the Indian ambassador in Damascus ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries
Prime Minister Hussein Arnous on Monday discussed with the Indian Ambassador in Damascus Ershad Ahmed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields, based on the deep-rooted historical relations and the common positions of the two countries towards many global issues.
Arnous stressed the Syrian government’s keenness to develop the existing level of cooperation in various fields, especially higher education, health, information technology, agriculture, trade exchange, expanding joint activities between Syrian and Indian companies, and enhancing the role of the business sector in the two countries to develop economic relations and establish joint investment projects that benefit both sides.
The Prime Minister explained the importance of activating the joint Syrian-Indian committee and the necessity of its convening to revitalize cooperation, open new horizons, and overcome the difficulties. The Premier expressed appreciation to the government and people of India for standing by Syria in its war against terrorism, and for the relief assistance India provided to those affected by the earthquake.
For his part, the Indian ambassador expressed his country’s pride in the historical relations with Syria, and renewed India’s firm position towards Syria and its support in the face of what it is exposed to, pointing to his country’s readiness to increase scholarships offered to Syrian students in Indian universities, and to provide cancer drugs to the health sector, as India will continue to support those affected by the earthquake.
