Arab and Inter-Parliamentary Unions Call for Immediate Ceasefire in Gaza and Unimpeded Delivery of Aid

The Inter-Parliamentary Union’s Middle East Committee renewed the call for a ceasefire in Gaza Strip and for immediate and unhindered humanitarian aid access to the Strip.

This was stated in an official statement by IPU Secretary General Martin Chungong to the President of the Arab Parliament Adel bin Abdul Rahman al-Assoumi, in which he confirmed his follow-up on the Arab Parliament’s appeal regarding the catastrophic consequences of the continued Israeli aggression against Gaza Strip.

For his part, the speaker of the Arab Parliament praised the rapid response of the Inter-Parliamentary Union to its calls to stop the ongoing and escalating aggression and bloodshed, and to confront the crimes of the Israeli occupation entity.

He hoped that other national, international and regional parliaments that had been approached to work towards imposing an immediate end to the shooting and the genocide committed by the Israeli occupying entity against the Palestinian people.

Al-Assoumi stressed that the Arab Parliament will continue to support the Palestinian people in all forums and at all regional and international levels until they achieve their legitimate rights, notably the establishment of their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
