US Hypocritical and contradictory Policy

A new episode of  Obama’s hypocritical and contradictory policy was manifested during the recent Geneva II Conference by announcing that it intends to provide the armed groups operating in Syria with weapons to press ahead with their criminal acts of killing and sabotage against Syrian people and their public and private properties.  The US announcement contradicts the international efforts in which the US has taken part to resolve the crisis peacefully. The US decision to arm terrorist groups constitutes backtracking from the political solution by the US. How can the US position be in support of the peaceful settlement in Geneva 2 and aiming at reaching a political solution when at the same time it supports, creates and backs up terrorism, violence and advocates the military option?

Syrian people are aware that the US won’t stop arming, and its tools in the region including Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Jordan won’t stop sending weapons and terrorists and establishing training camps for them in Turkey and Jordan to come to Syria and commit atrocious massacres in Syria. Despite that, Syrians are still open to political discussion and have no worries about discussing any political issue. But the US directed the coalition delegation called opposition to concentrate on one issue, namely the formation of the transitional body to create chaos in the country and allow the US and its allies to violate the Syrian sovereignty and interfere in Syria’s internal affairs.

The US arming continued to flow to the terrorists non- stop from the very beginning of the crisis, but what is new is that its act has been revealed and it became public with the aim of undermining the international efforts being exerted to resolve the crisis peacefully. The US decision to resume arming the terrorist groups is contradictory to the efforts exerted by Russia, the US, and the international community for launching the Geneva 2 conference. The US decision sought to hinder the political process and abort Geneva 2, and it also wanted to pressure the Syrian official delegation believing that such decision might make the Syrian delegation offer concessions. But the Syrian delegation was firm and adamantly adhering to its principled stands that express the aspirations of the Syrian people. The US allegations on the so-called “non-lethal weapons,” are false , because  all that is being sent to terrorists consists of lethal weapons which reach the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham and Jabhet al-Nusra whose members are carrying out savage and atrocious massacres against Syrian people and their public and private  properties.  When these weapons cross the borders, no-one knows where they end up as there are scores of terrorist groups who have been exported to Syria from more than 83 states with the help of the US, its western and regional allies and Arab tools, especially Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Qatar. How do the Americans want to arm these terrorist organizations and say at the same time that they want a political process and they are keen on resolving the crisis peacefully? The US, which is one of the sponsors for holding the Geneva conference, is aware that the step it made concerning its decision to resume support to the armed terrorist groups in Syria is harmful to the political process in Geneva conference.

Those who claim to be Syrians and care for the Syrian people are supporting a decision to bring weapons into Syria to kill its people, and they defend the American decision which constitutes blatant interference in the Syrian people’s affairs and sheds their blood. Those who defend foreign interference and war decisions in Syria are mere delegates of the Americans, the American decision, and the sides which are complicit in shedding Syrian blood and threatening the lives and fate of the Syrian people.

Why does the so-called coalition delegation jump to articles they pick and want to talk about before stopping terrorism, when the first Geneva communiqué focuses on creating a political environment suitable for launching a political process? If the so-called opposition is serious in its attempt to resolve the crisis in Syria and end the suffering of the Syrian people, the first point of agreement must be stopping bloodshed and terrorism in Syria and restore security and safety to Syria.

The Syrian official delegation submitted a communiqué calling on the coalition delegation so-called “opposition” to condemn the US step to arm the terrorist groups, but the coalition delegation rejected and defended the US step which shows the absence of desire by the US to end the crisis in Syria. By this refusal, the coalition is saying that it supports the US steps to arm and supply all kinds of weapons to terrorist groups to press ahead with their brutal acts against Syrian people.

 Perhaps what members of the coalition delegation called opposition want, is to consult their masters to get their orders on what they should do, those (opposition) represent the Western powers which interfere in Syria’s affairs and don’t represent themselves. The coalition delegation called opposition was confused and didn’t know why it is in Geneva, but Syria’s official delegation is aware of what it wants; which is ending the war and halting bloodshed in Syria. The first step to stop this war is to pressure on Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Qatar and other countries to oblige them stop arming, training and sending terrorists to Syria.

The US decision to arm terrorist groups in Syria was its gift to Geneva 2 which aimed at thwarting the conference. The side which provides weapons to terrorist groups doesn’t care about the conference’s success. The international community must decide who supports terrorism and who wants this conference to fail or succeed. The US decision is a very bad message because the US has launched this conference, and it should not support the armed terrorist groups as they know that the weapons, which were previously sent, have gone to the terrorists.   

The coalition delegation rejected the communiqué submitted by the official Syrian delegation, because this coalition rejects the unity of Syria’s land and people and reject non-interference in Syria’s internal affairs, and because this “opposition” supports terrorism in Syria and supports Israel, which is why they refused to endorse that communiqué. What the coalition has done is rejecting the official delegation’s political communiqué which indicates that the coalition doesn’t want Syria’s territorial integrity, but rather accepts interference in its internal affairs and supports terrorism and Israel in its efforts for killing Syrian people and devastating their country.

The coalition delegation obstructs any procedure towards gaining any achievement that relieves the Syrian citizens because the other side doesn’t want any success to this conference, but reaching authority. 

The paper presented by Syria’s official delegation is a paper of principles which means that all Syrians must agree on protecting Syria’s territorial integrity, rejecting terrorism and foreign intervention in Syria and preserving the state’s institutions.

The US Ambassador Robert Ford met the coalition delegation in Geneva several times to provide them with his instructions which aim to undermine the political process and restrict it to the sinister objectives of the US and its allies. 

The US and its allies have stepped up their criminal propaganda campaign against Syria after the Geneva II talks. The recent Geneva II conference on the Syria crisis failed, because it was part of a US-led odious choreography to push for the destruction of Syria through making the coalition delegation focus on one point only, namely the transitional body. The concerted propaganda campaign in the context of ‘failed negotiations’ at Geneva has a foreboding meaning, namely Western regime-change efforts in Syria are intensified, because the US and its allies have failed once again to execute their colonialist project in Syria. The US Secretary of State John Kerry threatened Syria with the use of military force, claiming that Syria was delaying to hand over its chemical weapons under a UN resolution on scrapping the Syrian chemical weapons by mid-2014.  The US officials and their UN agents are also trying to depict the Syrian government as the party which is hindering humanitarian aid, but in fact the criminal acts committed by foreign-backed Takfiri groups in Syria are the ones creating a humanitarian crisis in Syrian areas by cutting off the supply of food and medicines.

The forthcoming Geneva talks on the crisis in Syria will also fail to yield concrete results as long as the United States continues to support the armed groups operating in Syria. Washington’s decision to send more arms to the terrorists in Syria is a contradictory policy. Any forthcoming talks, aimed at containing the crisis in Syria, will not lead to anything concrete as long as there’s a policy of supporting the terrorist acts of the armed groups in Syria. As the Americans are feeding in more guns and ammunition, the violence will increase and it’s hard to see negotiations under those circumstances can lead to a lasting peace.

Another escalating measure taken by the US administration during the past few days was the shipment of new sophisticated weapons to the armed terrorist groups. News reports said the US increased more than twice its supply of weaponry and munitions to the armed terrorist groups. Jordanian news and press sources revealed that a US airplane, loaded with fatal weapons, landed in al-Mafraq airport in Jordan to deliver the weapons to the armed terrorist groups in Syria. Jordanian sources said that a US aircraft, loaded with weapons arrived in al-Mafraq airport to hand over these weapons to the armed terrorist groups in Syria, referring to the graduation of a new batch of 1500 gunmen, of al-Zaatari camp residents, who were trained for fighting and using weapons to join nearly 50000 others existing in Syria.

US Security officials have unveiled that the US congress had secretly endorsed a bill to fund weapon shipments to the armed terrorist groups in Syria through Jordan. The US decision to continue arming the armed terrorist groups in Syria was a gift for Geneva conference for undermining it and foiling the efforts of the political solution.

The decision of the US Congress to arm the Syrian opposition is regretful since such decisions do not help the success of any talks that aimed to resolve the Syrian crisis peacefully.   The timing of such decision will aggravate the situation and undermine the trust-building process between them.

The US and its allies are opposed to the peace process in Syria and only seek to overthrow the government and create chaos. The US and its allies do not want peace in Syria but the formation of a transitional government to create chaos in the country and implement the colonialist project that achieves the US political and economic interests and serves Israel through ending the resistance axis and enabling Israel to invade the Arab region politically and economically. The US has no real desire for peace in Syria, and it wanted Geneva II conference to fail. It also wants to turn around and blames Syrian government, but it failed because the Syrian official delegation was determined not to withdraw from the conference and came to Geneva with one aim, namely ending the suffering of Syrian people and restoring security and stability to the country.
