Minister of Higher Education discusses with the Mauritanian Ambassador boosting academic and research cooperation

The minister of Higher Education and scientific Research Bassam Ibrahim discussed with the Mauritanian ambassador to Damascus Sidi Ould Douman ways to develop and strengthen scientific, research and cultural cooperation relations between the countries.

Minister Ibrahim pointed to the importance of scientific and research cooperation with Mauritania, and working to renew and activate the joint scientific program, through the exchange of student and professor scholarships, participation in scientific conferences, and publication in peer-reviewed journals.

The Minister of Higher Education pointed to the depth and strength of the historical relations between Syria and Mauritania together at all levels, stressing the keenness of the leadership of the two countries to make more efforts to develop bilateral relations in various fields.

In turn, the Mauritanian ambassador to Damascus expressed his country’s desire to develop scientific and research cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Syrian universities to benefit from existing scientific capabilities and focus on precise specializations in a way that serves the interests of both countries.

Ould Douman pointed out that Syria is history, honor, the beating heart of Arabism, and a country of cultural radiance at all levels, indicating that it was able, despite the harsh conditions of war, to maintain, support and develop the level of education thanks to the will to live among the Syrians.
