Mansour: Disability of Security Council encourages the Israeli occupation to commit massacres in Rafah

The Permanent Representative of Palestine to the United Nations Riyad Mansour warned of the consequences of the Israeli occupation’s threats  to invade the city of Rafah in the south of the Gaza Strip, which constitutes the only and last refuge for more than one and a half million Palestinians.

Mansour on Monday explained in letters to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the President of the Security Council, and the President of the UN General Assembly, according to WAFA Agency, that in the light of the continued state paralysis of the Security Council, the Israeli occupation committed new massacres in Rafah, which resulted in the martyrdom of more than 164 Palestinians and the injury of hundreds of others within the past two days.

Mansour pointed out that since 7th  of last October, more than 28.000 Palestinians have been martyred and more than 68.000 have been injured in Gaza Strip.  In the West Bank, 390 Palestinians, including 102 children, were martyred, and 4,500 others were injured by fire from the occupation forces and settlers, in addition to thousands of Palestinians being detained, dehumanized, tortured, and dozens of them were executed.

Mansour renewed his call on the UN Security Council to take immediate action and fulfill its obligations under international law, to prevent ethnic cleansing committed by the Israeli occupation in Gaza Strip, secure international protection for the Palestinians, and accelerate the introduction of humanitarian aid to meet the requirements of the minimum necessities of life.
