Syria, UNRWA to coordinate efforts to help the displaced families return to Yarmouk camp in Damascus
Damascus, (ST) – The Governor of Damascus Muhammad Tariq Krishati and the Director of the Affairs of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in Syria, Amanya Michael Eby discussed means of coordinating efforts to secure the return of the displaced families to al-Yarmouk camp in Damascus.
The Governor and the Director of UNRWA affairs in Syria reviewed mechanisms to enhance cooperation to complete the rehabilitation of the infrastructure including schools, Health and service centers, as well as water, sewage and electricity networks.
Krishati renewed the governorate’s readiness to provide all facilities for the return of the displaced people to their homes in the camp in a safe way.
He also renewed the governorate’s readiness to provide all the required support for the agency’s relief, humanitarian, health and educational work in Damascus, and to work to rehabilitate the necessary infrastructure in cooperation with all international organizations in Syria.
In turn, Eby expressed his thanks for the facilities and support provided by the Syrian government to UNRWA to carry out its tasks and implement its activities in the Yarmouk camp and all areas in Syria that include Palestinian refugees.
He pointed to coordination with Damascus Governorate regarding the Yarmouk camp to rehabilitate the schools and health and service centers affiliated with the organization and put them in service and implement its activities and help the resident population.
