World Health Organization expresses its concern about the Israeli attacks against Rafah and calls for ceasefire

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director General of the World Health Organization, expressed his concern about the Israeli attacks against Rafah city, south of Gaza Strip, reiterating the call for ceasefire in the Strip.

Reuters quoted Ghebreyesus as saying during the World Government Summit in Dubai: “I am particularly concerned about the recent attacks on Rafah, where the majority of Gazans were displaced to escape bombing and destruction”. He pointed out that only 15 out of 36 hospitals in Gaza are still working partially or at minimum capacity and relief workers are doing their best under unimaginable circumstances.

Ghebreyesus indicated that the World Health Organization continues to call for safe access for humanitarian aid workers, pointing out that the Organization provided about 447 tons of medical supplies to Gaza, but they are just very small part of the needs that are increasing every day.
