Damascus, (ST) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Al-Mikdad met with a Libyan parliamentary delegation headed by Youssef Ibrahim Al-Aqouri, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Libyan Parliament.
The two sides reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries. They reiterated their condemnation of the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, and affirming in this regard their full support for the steadfastness of the Palestinian resistance in the face of the brutal attacks launched by the Zionist entity on innocent citizens.
Minister Al-Mikdad affirmed the full support of the Syrian Arab Republic for the unity, independence and sovereignty of Libya. He indicated the depth and strength of the fraternal ties that link the peoples of the two countries.
Al-Mikdad also stressed the necessity of strengthening joint Arab action to confront the various challenges facing the region. He pointed to the important role of parliamentary work in strengthening friendship between the peoples of the two countries, and in contributing to the development of bilateral relations in all fields.
For his part, Al-Aqouri stressed the need to condemn the Zionist attacks on Syria and reject external interference in its internal affairs. He praised Syria’s steadfastness in fighting terrorism on behalf of the world.
Al-Aqouri referred to the pivotal, historical pan-Arab role of the Syrian Arab Republic, stressing the importance of strengthening relations between the two countries to serve the common interest of the two peoples.
He also stressed Libya’s readiness to provide all necessary forms of support to Syria.
