Lattakia-(ST)- The city councils of Lattakia and Jableh began handing over housing units in the Al-Gharraf 1 and Al-Fayd sites to the families affected by the earthquake and who need housing according to the set priorities.
Yesterday, 55 homes were handed over at the Al-Gharraf 1 neighborhood site in the city of Latakia, which includes 132 homes. 48 homes were handed over in the Al-Fayd neighborhood in the city of Jableh, which includes 58 homes. The two city councils are following up on handing over the remaining homes to the beneficiaries according to priorities, in coordination between the Lattakia governorate and the delegation of the Emirates Red Crescent Society.
Head of the Emirates Red Crescent delegation, Khalfan Al Rumaithi, accompanied by the Chairman of the Latakia City Council Hussein Zengerli met with the residents as they received the housing and said: “We are happy that our work and efforts will be crowned with joy on the faces of these families as they receive their housing after a period of waiting.”
Al-Rumaithi confirmed that, in coordination with the Syrian Red Crescent, families will be provided with the basic necessities to move into these residences, and the implementation of the rest of the housing units in the sites of Stamo, Al-Fawwar, Damsarkho, and Al-Gharraf 1 will be followed up so that the houses will be handed over successively.
The residents and the President of the City Council expressed their thanks for the efforts of the United Arab Emirates and its fraternal support for the Syrian people to overcome the repercussions of the earthquake, and to the delegation of the Emirates Red Crescent for their interest and humanitarian initiatives which are full of love for the Syrians, while the President of the Council affirmed monitoring the service situation at the site.
